What We Are Doing and What You Can Do to Help.

Last Update: 30 April 2021

What We Are Doing

UPDATE 04/30/2021: MASKS MUST CONTINUE TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN OUR OFFICES. Even though cities like Tulsa may no longer mandate the wearing of masks in public, the CDC continues to recommend the use of masks for healthcare personnel.

TRC’s mask mandate applies to everyone. Even if you have had a Covid-19 vaccine or have a health condition that prohibits you from wearing a mask.

As a privately-held business and a highly regarded medical practice, TRC will continue to follow CDC guidelines and recommendations to protect the health, safety and well being of our patients and staff. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

UPDATE 05/11/2020: TO ENSURE EVERYONE’S SAFETY, all persons are required to wear a face mask at all times while in our offices.

This mandate is in keeping with recommendations from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

As the ASRS states, “Because the examination and treatment of retinal conditions is done face to face and patients with COVID-19 can be asymptomatic carriers, the practitioner should do all they can to minimize the risk of droplet transmission.”

“In this unprecedented time, it is more important than ever that retina specialists do everything possible to minimize risk of disease transmission to our patients and our staff while treating and preventing vision loss.”

UPDATE 04/03/2020: Our goal is to keep everyone as safe as possible while continuing to take care of those in need. Currently we are focused on providing examinations and treatments to patients that require urgent or emergent care. We are following CDC guidelines as well as recommendations from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Behind our masks are dedicated healthcare providers working hard to keep us all safe.

UPDATE 03/27/2020: We are evaluating ALL persons for COVID-19 symptoms immediately upon entering our practice areas. Patients and/or accompanying family members who exhibit a cough or flu-like symptoms are asked to leave and to call back and reschedule.

We are also using bleach to disinfect all exam rooms before each patient exam.

UPDATE 03/24/2020: Dr. Cooper and two of our surgeons designed custom-made slit lamp shields and we now have them in place in all of our exam rooms. A big shout-out to Raleigh at Tulsa Plastics Co.

UPDATE 03/18/2020: We have reduced the number of chairs in all waiting areas and re-positioned existing chairs so as to allow better social distancing between patients.

UPDATE 03/16/2020: For everyone’s safety, only one family member is allowed to accompany each patient. NO children are allowed. Any additional family members may wait in the first-floor lobby or their vehicle.

Important! If you appear to have a cough or flu-like symptoms, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment.

We continue to closely monitor updates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as state and local authorities.

We continue to follow Universal Standard Precautions with every patient at all times.

At this time we hope you understand us avoiding handshakes. Instead we may use the Elbow Bump, also known as SafeShake.

We are also taking extra steps to ensure frequently touched surfaces in our areas are disinfected regularly.

What You Can Do

If you are experiencing ANY of the above symptoms or ANY flu-like symptoms, please wait until you are free of all symptoms for 24 hours before your visit.
